Looking for rabbits
« on: October 05, 2011, 10:01:47 AM »
New to the forum, first post.  My son is visiting for 10 days from the Air Force and mentioned he'd like to go hunting.  Leaves on 13 Oct.  I was thinking rabbits, but I am new to Washington myself and would appreciate any recommendations on good spots for rabbit hunting.  We are not new hunters, having hunted bear in bear, rabbits, pheasants and turkey from Alaska to Texas. Thanks for the assist.

Would be glad to help you out but I'm on the other side of the state.you might consider driving or walking some of the logging roads over there and look for rabbits and grouse

Wish I knew. I've got a 5 year old boy that would love to go a walk with me to plink (I'd do the plinking) a few bunnies. I'm west side but good luck and hope it works out.

Been seeing them all over. Got one off above greenwater about 2-3 weeks ago. Just go out grouse hunting. They seem to be in all the same spots.

I arrowed one in my yard in clearview this August.  been seeing his twin around my garden patch but usually when I am on my way to work in the morning and can't go run and get my bow can't shoot the guns at my place...  at my inlaws we keep a bunny chart on the fridge all year to tally how many each of us has killed as a contest.  it really helps the vegetable harvest.  In eastern snohomish county just about every stand of trees houses a bunch or rabits.  depending on weapon choice you can do good all over Snohomish county but there are lots of firearms restricted areas.  Private land with vegie gardens will produce a high concentration of bunnies in these parts.
Such is life in the West and the further West the more the such.

All of my rabbit hotspots have been found while hiking in the snow or at night.  All are at around 500 feet or below and I find a lot of grouse in the same areas.
